Today was one of those days that makes me step back, look up, and realize just how much I love my job.
We were at the magnificent archaeological site of Xochicalco, one of the most intellectually significant places in ancient Mesoamerica. We had just climbed to the top of the site, and the moment I captured this photo, I knew it was a keeper.
Look closely at the image:

It’s a beautiful photo, yes, but it perfectly encapsulates the IDEAL Spanish Mexico experience.
The Depth Behind the Destination
For me, being your guide isn’t about rushing you through a checklist of famous monuments. It’s about ensuring that when you stand on that pyramid, you feel the weight of what you’re seeing.
That’s why I dedicate the time to explain:
We dive deep. We discuss the astronomical significance of the site, the unique mix of Maya, Zapotec, and Teotihuacán influences seen in the architecture, and how Xochicalco literally translates to “in the house of flowers.”
At IDEAL Spanish Mexico, we believe your cultural experience must be as rich as your language immersion. We don’t just visit the pyramid; we understand it.
