Hey there, Ideal Spanish Mexico family!
Guess what? We just got back from another fantastic day trip to the charming, silver-laden town of Taxco, and as always, it delivered pure magic! Seriously, we could go every week and find something new to fall in love with.
Today felt extra special, and here’s a quick peek at why our day was an absolute blast:
🥳 A Serenade for St. Cecilia!

If you were wondering why the Zócalo (main square) was bursting with sound, it was because the town was celebrating Santa Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians! Right in front of the magnificent Santa Prisca Church, a stage was set up, and the air was filled with incredible music. Seeing all the local musicians gather to play and sing with such passion was a beautiful, soul-stirring experience. You could feel the joy and rhythm of Mexico pulsing right there in the center of town!
💙 Blue Dress, Big Day!

Speaking of Santa Prisca, we also got to witness a classic Mexican celebration: a Quinceañera! We saw a very happy young woman in a stunning, bright blue dress, surrounded by her equally elegant friends, strolling through the Zócalo after her mass. The smiles, the gorgeous outfits, the sheer happiness—it was a wonderful reminder of the vibrant family traditions you find here in Mexico.
🤫 Our New Little Secret Spot

We decided to take a much-needed break from the bustling main square and stumbled upon a new favorite hideout! We found ourselves resting in a small, incredibly cozy little plaza right in front of the San Nicolás Church. We’d never stopped there before, and what a surprise! In the middle of Taxco’s lovely chaos, we found this tranquil, peaceful pocket—a perfect place to sip a bottle of water and people-watch. Sometimes, the best travel moments are the unplanned, quiet ones.
🤪 The Sign That Made Us Laugh

And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, we walked past a beautiful, traditional Taxco-style home and spotted a hilariously witty sign. It simply read:
“En esta casa el 11 de septiembre de 1910 no pasó nada ni nació nadie”
(In this house on September 11, 1910, nothing happened and nobody was born)
We couldn’t help but stop and giggle! It’s these small moments of local humor and personality that make our excursions so memorable.
Taxco is truly a gem, and we can’t wait for the next time we get to share its beauty (and its surprises!) with our amazing students.
