There are some things that words simply cannot capture, and the Oaxacan sky is one of them.

As we mentioned in a previous post, our recent journey took us to the vibrant town of San Martín Tilcajete. We weren’t just there to admire the world-famous alebrijes; we were there on a mission of growth. Alongside the energetic students from the Lycée Français de New York (LFNY), we spent the day getting our hands in the earth, planting trees, and contributing to the reforestation of this beautiful region.

A Reward for the Soul

After the hard work of digging and planting, we all took a moment to look up. This photo captures exactly what we saw: a sky so vast and a blue so deep it feels like looking into the heart of the ocean.

In Oaxaca, the light has a quality unlike anywhere else in the world. It is crisp, bright, and serves as the perfect backdrop for the green saplings we left behind.
