Ever wondered what some Friday afternoons look like at Ideal Spanish Mexico? Spoiler alert: they’re delicious!

Here at our schools in sunny Cuernavaca and vibrant Oaxaca, we believe that learning a language should be as fun and engaging as possible. And what’s more engaging than a shared meal?

That’s right, one of our favorite traditions is getting together on a relaxed Friday to chat, laugh, and practice our Spanish… all while enjoying some amazing food! Our kitchens often become mini-labs of flavor, especially with all the incredible Mexican dishes we love to make with our students. Tacos, guacamole, enchiladas—it’s the perfect way to wind down the week and soak up the local culture (and a little bit of salsa!).

But here’s where things get really exciting: the food isn’t always Mexican!

Because our students come from all corners of the globe, it’s not unusual for us to be treated to a culinary journey around the world! We’ve had incredible meals and unforgettable celebrations thanks to the cooking skills of our international student body. Imagine a single afternoon where you could taste authentic German specialties, celebrate the 4th of July with classic US dishes, savor delicate Swiss treats, dive into the flavors of Vietnam, Canada, the Philippines, or Japan, or sample incredible food from India and various countries in Africa.

For those of us who work at IDEAL, sometimes it feels like we get to travel the world every single week. We may not have the stamps in our passports, but we definitely have the amazing memories (and full bellies!). It’s the beautiful, humbling part of this job: the world comes to us!

That’s why, to us, Ideal Spanish Mexico isn’t just a school—it’s a vibrant, delicious hub for sharing. It’s a place where we all open up, share our languages, our stories, and most importantly, our cultures.
