An Evening in Cuernavaca: The Perfect Break

The afternoon weather in Cuernavaca today was absolutely perfect. A lovely, cool breeze swept through the city, making for an incredibly pleasant evening. It was the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to step out, practice your Spanish, and really soak up the local culture.

Scenes from a Perfect Afternoon

We took a few photos to share the charm of the “City of Eternal Spring” when the light is just right:

  • Palacio de Cortés: The historic stone walls of the Palacio de Cortés looked magnificent under the gentle evening light. This iconic building, with its deep history, is a stunning backdrop to the life happening all around it.

  • A Dance in the Plaza: The main square, the Plaza de Armas, was alive! We were treated to an energetic performance by Aztec dancers (often called Concheros) whose vibrant costumes and powerful movements are a beautiful link to Mexico’s pre-Hispanic past.

  • The Cathedral Complex: Nearby, the serene grounds of the Cuernavaca Cathedral were a picture of peace. This complex is actually home to several different churches and chapels, creating a quiet space that offers a welcome contrast to the bustling city streets.

  • A Glimmer of Moonlight: We ended our walk at El Calvario, where the church dedicated to the Virgen de Guadalupe sits. What made the view truly special was the moon, already high in the sky, softly illuminating the scene and signaling the end of a perfect day.
