Mexico’s colonial past is a vibrant tapestry, woven with threads of history, art, and tradition. At IDEAL Spanish Mexico, we believe that learning a language is inseparable from experiencing the culture that breathes life into it. That is why we frequently take our students to the “Pueblo Mágico” of Taxco—a silver-laden hillside town that feels like stepping back in time.
As we speak, our wonderful Australian students is exploring those winding cobblestone streets, taking in the white-washed houses and the scent of jasmine in the air.
Photo of the Week: The Majestic Pipe Organ
This week, we are highlighting a true colonial treasure: the magnificent pipe organ of the Church of Santa Prisca.
While the church’s pink stone facade and intricate churrigueresque carvings are world-famous, the interior holds a secret that sounds as beautiful as it looks. This organ wasn’t just built for the church; it was brought directly from Europe during the 18th century, a monumental feat of logistics and devotion for that era.
A Legacy in Every Note
The history behind this instrument is as fascinating as its gold-leaf detail:
