There is something truly magical about the way the light hits the ancient stones of Xochicalco, but today felt particularly special. This Thursday, our students from Australia joined us for an excursion to this stunning UNESCO World Heritage site, and the experience was nothing short of spectacular.
Located just a short drive from Cuernavaca, Xochicalco is known for its impressive observatory, the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, and its commanding views of the valley. While the history of this “Place of the House of Flowers” is always captivating, today’s atmosphere added a layer of drama that we won’t soon forget.

When the Weather Becomes Part of the Magic
The afternoon started with the intense dry heat typical of Morelos, and we were all prepared for a very sunny climb. However, nature had other plans. Just as we began our walk through the archaeological zone, a thick blanket of clouds moved in, offering a welcome respite from the sun.
The temperature dropped to a perfect, temperate cool, making the exploration effortless. But the real show was in the sky:

More Than Just a Lesson
For our Australian students, it was a day of deep connection—not just with Mexican history and the Spanish language, but with the breathtaking natural beauty of the region. Moments like these remind us that learning is about sharing unforgettable stories in unique places.
We returned home with tired feet but very full hearts. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in culture while enjoying the “City of Eternal Spring” and its surroundings, we’d love to have you on our next adventure!
