We’re still riding a wave of pure, happy satisfaction here in Cuernavaca after what was an absolutely delicious weekend! From November 7th to the 9th, our city was buzzing as we hosted the X International Forum of Mexican Food (X Foro Internacional de la Comida Mexicana). And let us tell you, it was a smashing, mouth-watering success!

A Taste Tour of Mexico 🇲🇽
Imagine this: stalls overflowing with the incredible diversity of Mexican cuisine! People came from near and far to indulge in plates representing various states and regions. Of course, we were thrilled to see our very own home state, Morelos, showing off its best. We’re talking about savory cecina, the perfectly crisp mojarra frita de Coatetelco, rich pipián, and so many other local treasures!
But the flavor journey didn’t stop there!
Oaxaca Takes Center Stage (and Our Hearts! )
We were especially excited to see a familiar, wonderful presence: Abigail Mendoza representing our beloved Oaxaca! Abigail is a gastronomic ambassador for Mexico, and she brought the true spirit of her region to the Forum.
For those of you who join our Spanish programs, you know how much we adore Oaxaca, especially the magical town of Teotitlán del Valle. We visit Abigail’s sister, María Luisa of Casa Cruz, every chance we get! It’s where we learn about their incredible wool tapestry art and, most memorably, where we get our hands dirty learning to make tortillas by hand on the metate over a wood fire. That hands-on experience is often as educational as the Spanish lessons!

Full Bellies, Happy Hearts
It was a fantastic reminder of why Mexican food is celebrated globally—it’s not just about eating; it’s about culture, family, and passion served on a plate.
We left the Forum with that wonderful, contented feeling: “La panza llena y el corazón contento” (A full stomach and a happy heart).
¡Nos vemos pronto!
